The Government’s education reforms will shift crucial decisions away from local communities to ‘Education Hubs’.
Each hub will control 125 schools and will be appointed by the Minister of Education.
They will control schools’ money, property and enrolments; have the power to move communities in and out of school zones; even shift principals between schools if they are too successful.
Why would you as a parent put time and effort into improving your local school if they’re controlled by people outside your community?
ACT believes parents and communities should be free to shape the future of their schools because their engagement leads to better education outcomes for children.
I hope you’ll learn more about these changes, and tell the Government your thoughts, by going here.
